cake

As the 2020 wedding season fast approaches, let’s take a look at the top trends in wedding cakes for this year and beyond! The trends for 2020 are vastly different meaning there is something for all different styles and wedding themes!

Floating Tiers

Floating or illusion tiers use props or Perspex dividers to give the illusion of a cake that is floating in the air. It’s a great way to add height to your wedding cake without having to add too much cake. This is perfect if you’ve a small number of guests but want a tall impressive cake.

Edible Flowers

Edible flowers on wedding cakes are such a beautiful trend for summer and rustic weddings. A lot of people aren’t a fan of fondant or sugar flowers, as they don’t like the taste. Edible flowers are a way to bring bright colours and florals to your cake while keeping everything edible and delicious!

Buttercream

A few years ago the Naked Wedding cake was the most popular option for summer and rustic weddings. Over the past couple of years we’ve seen the naked cake gradually get dressed up, firstly with the semi-naked wedding cake and now the trend for full buttercream tiers is back! Buttercream is perfect for those who don’t like the taste of fondant but still allows for decoration with fresh florals and endless texture options.

Grazing Tables

You might have seen savoury grazing tables explode on Instagram recently – platters and tables filled with cheese and charcuterie deliciousness. Well, that trend is now joining the sweet world, taking the formality away from the dessert table and creating something that your guests will love to get stuck into. This is the perfect option for couples that don’t want to have a traditional wedding cake but still want to provide their guests with something sweet and unique.

Cake Hoops

This trend isn’t so much about the design of the cake itself, but how it’s displayed. Cake hoops create a stunning focal point for your cake so it really stands out in a room. They look stunning on their own and can also be dressed with fresh flowers or balloons to add an extra WOW factor.
